Project Specifications
The Brief
Leep Utilities is a leading UK multi-utility network operator, specialising in the ownership and operation of electricity, water and heat networks. Working alongside developers and infrastructure partners, Leep helps deliver essential utilities to residential, commercial and mixed-use developments across the country.
When Leep undertook a company rebrand, Seymour Graphic Solutions was appointed to bring their new visual identity to life across their head office in Old Trafford, Manchester, alongside a number of company vehicles.
Working closely with Leep's marketing and design team, we produced and installed a range of bespoke signage and graphics, with particular consideration given to material selection, environmental impact and what happens to the graphics at the end of their useful life.
The Challenge
A successful workplace rebrand involves more than simply replacing logos.
Leep wanted to create a professional, welcoming environment that reflected its new brand identity throughout the office, from large-scale feature walls to smaller branded details.
The project involved a variety of surfaces, spaces and applications, each requiring different materials and installation techniques.
With sustainability an important consideration, we also looked at opportunities to use alternatives to traditional PVC-based graphics wherever practical, without compromising the appearance or quality of the finished installation.
The challenge was to deliver a cohesive workplace transformation using materials that were not only visually effective, but also considered in terms of their environmental impact and future disposal
The Solution
Working alongside Leep's marketing and design team, Seymour Graphic Solutions produced and installed a coordinated range of internal branding solutions.
Bespoke Wall Coverings
Large-scale printed wall coverings were used to introduce Leep's new visual identity throughout the workplace, transforming otherwise plain walls into prominent branded features.
Rather than using conventional PVC wall vinyl, we selected a woven polyester wall covering, printed in-house using our HP Latex printer.
The material offered the appearance and durability required for a commercial environment while providing a PVC-free alternative to traditional wall graphics.
Being polyester-based, the material also offers potential for recycling through appropriate specialist recycling streams at the end of its useful life, subject to the adhesives, contamination and recycling facilities available.
The result was a high-quality decorative finish with greater consideration given to the materials used and their eventual disposal.
Built-Up 3D and Stand-Off Signage
To complement the printed graphics, we produced and installed a selection of dimensional signage, including a prominent built-up 3D logo manufactured from powder-coated steel.
The combination of dimensional lettering and stand-off logos introduced depth and texture into the workplace, creating distinctive branded features that contrasted with the printed wall coverings.
The powder-coated steel construction provided a durable, long-lasting finish, while the use of metal also offered potential for material recovery and recycling at the end of the signage's useful life.
Silicone Edge Graphics
A selection of silicone edge graphics (SEG) was installed throughout the office, providing another flexible approach to workplace branding.
These systems use printed fabric graphics held under tension within slim-profile frames, creating a smooth, professional finish.
For this project, polyester-based fabric graphics provided an alternative to traditional PVC banners and rigid printed panels.
One of the key advantages of silicone edge graphics is their flexibility. Should Leep wish to update its messaging or imagery in the future, the printed fabric can be replaced while retaining the existing frame.
This reduces the need to replace the entire installation whenever the graphics change, helping minimise unnecessary material waste and extending the useful life of the system.
Taking a Considered Approach to Materials
Throughout the project, we looked beyond the immediate appearance of the finished graphics.
While visual impact was essential, we also considered material composition, durability, future replacement and end-of-life disposal.
From polyester wall coverings and fabric graphics to powder-coated steel signage, we selected materials that offered practical environmental advantages where appropriate.
Importantly, sustainability isn't simply about choosing a material labelled as recyclable. It's also about how long a product lasts, whether it can be updated or reused, and what happens when it eventually needs replacing.
By making these considerations part of the production process, we were able to support Leep's rebrand with solutions that balanced appearance, practicality and environmental responsibility.
Taking the Brand Beyond the Office
As part of the wider rebrand, Seymour Graphic Solutions was also entrusted with updating the graphics on a number of Leep Utilities' company vehicles.
Applying the new identity across the fleet helped extend the consistency of the rebrand beyond the office environment, ensuring the business presented a recognisable, professional appearance both on site and out on the road.
By delivering both the workplace and vehicle graphics, we were able to support multiple elements of the rebrand through a single graphics partner.
The Result
The completed project brought Leep Utilities' refreshed identity into its working environment through a combination of bespoke wall coverings, dimensional signage, interchangeable fabric graphics and vehicle branding.
The result is a cohesive, contemporary workplace that reflects the company's identity while providing a welcoming environment for employees and visitors.
Just as importantly, the project demonstrates how thoughtful material selection can be incorporated into commercial branding without compromising the finished appearance.
By working closely with Leep's marketing and design team, Seymour Graphic Solutions helped translate their new visual identity into a range of practical, high-quality applications, both inside the workplace and across their vehicles.
Considering the Future
At Seymour Graphic Solutions, we believe that selecting the right materials is about more than achieving a great finish on installation day.
It's equally important to consider how those materials will perform over time and what happens when they eventually need to be removed.
For businesses occupying leased commercial premises, this can be particularly important. Many lease agreements include reinstatement obligations, requiring tenants to remove their branding and return the property to its original condition.
With this in mind, we selected premium vinyl materials that we have experience working with and have tested for their application and removal characteristics.
While no self-adhesive graphic can be guaranteed to remove without leaving residue or affecting the underlying surface, particularly on porous materials such as brick, choosing appropriate products can help minimise the risk of damage and make future removal more manageable.
By considering the entire lifespan of the graphics, rather than simply their initial appearance, we aim to provide solutions that are practical both now and in the future.
